The Island in Pigeon Forge: Tennessee's Hidden Gem

By Sara Mckay

If you've ever found yourself wandering around Pigeon Forge, you've probably hit up the usual suspects: the captivating Titanic museum, the adrenaline-packed Dollywood, the good ol' Dixie Stampede, and the mind-boggling Wonderworks. But wait! If you thought that was all Pigeon Forge had to offer, think again. Nestled right in the heart of this vibrant Tennessee town is a gem so unique and thrilling, you'll wonder how you ever missed it: 'The Island in Pigeon Forge.'

Now, before I dive deep into this oasis of fun, let me set the scene. Imagine the warm sun kissing your skin, the hum of happy chatter around, and a lively melody playing in the distance – oh, and speaking of melodies, it was right here that I stumbled upon the infectious tune that introduced me to the KPOP band BTS. Mind you, I was a die-hard SHINee fan before (and if you're nodding in agreement, you're my kind of people). But BTS? That’s a story for another day.

A bit of an edited photo for you guys, but get comfy, as this Island has everything you need!

Back to The Island. Whether you're with your fam jam, on a romantic getaway, or on a solo expedition, there's something for everyone here. From food that'll make your taste buds dance to shopping that’ll lighten your wallet (in a good way!), and hotels that promise the sweetest dreams, I'm about to spill all the beans. The good, the bad, and the downright unforgettable.

So, pull up a chair, maybe grab a sweet Tennessee iced tea, and let’s journey together through The Island in Pigeon Forge. Ready? Let’s go, y'all!

Essential Tips for Tackling The Island in Pigeon Forge: All You Need to Know Before You Go!

I see you're looking to unravel the wonders of 'The Island in Pigeon Forge.' Well, buckle up, because I've got the inside scoop on all the must-knows to make your visit smoother than Tennessee whiskey. 🥃

Timing is Everything

Open every single day of the year? You betcha! Whether you're thinking of a summer escapade or a winter wonderland trip, The Island's got its doors open for ya. And for the night owls, don't fret; there's always something bubbling even when the stars are out.

Furry Friends Welcome

Got a four-legged buddy? Well, good news! The Island is pet-friendly. Just keep them on a leash and check with individual stores about their pet policies. But hey, if you're looking for a snack with your pooch, Mellow Mushroom's patio is the place to be.

Light It Up

For all my fellow smokers, remember to keep it classy and only light up near the designated smoking poles.

Cash on the Go

If your pockets are feeling light, no worries! There are ATMs scattered around, like inside Arcade City and Margaritaville Island Hotel, to name a few.

No Hassle Parking

Forget about the pesky parking fees! The Island offers free parking at The LeConte Center Parking Lot. And guess what? There's a complimentary tram ride from the lot right to The Island. Talk about rolling out the red carpet!

Ride the Adventure

While you can snag individual tickets starting from $5.99, the real deal is the 48-hour unlimited rides wristband. For $39.99, you get a golden ticket to a world of rides! And if you're feeling extra adventurous, shell out just 10 more bucks to tackle The Island Ropes Course.

Weather Got You Down?

Rain or shine, The Island mostly has its rides running. Just a heads-up, though: Lightning or super strong winds might cause temporary closures for safety. And if the mercury drops below 40°F, some rides might just take a chill pill. But don't stress about ticket refunds - individual ride tickets are good for 30 days, and those unlimited passes? They've got a 48-hour validity.

A Stroll Through The Island in Pigeon Forge: A Down-Home Look at the Good, the Bad, and the Darn Right Ugly

Just one of the many fun and exciting shops to see in the Island!

Well, sugar, if y'all are lookin' to spend a day filled with fun, food, and a fair share of excitement, The Island in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee might just be the place for you. But hold your horses, 'cause there's a bit of everything here, and not all of it's as sweet as peach pie. Let's take a gander at what folks have to say.

5-Star Reviews: "A Hootin' Good Time!

Take yourself back to the old 1800s, and dress up and take pictures from history!

Now, darlin', folks who've given The Island a full five stars are just smitten with the place. They're talkin' 'bout "lots of little shops' ' and "nice restaurants' ' that'll make your belly as happy as a pig in mud. Paula Deen and Jimmy Buffet's are the talk of the town, though you might find yourself waiting' a spell to get a seat.

Families are finding' something' for everyone, from the young'uns enjoying' the rides to the grown-ups takin' in the beautiful sights. It's all "well kept" and "beautiful," and stayin' close by means you can mosey on over without a care in the world 'bout traffic or parkin'.

3/4-Star Reviews: "A Bit of a Mixed Bag, Y'all

Now, don’t judge, but I am a pineapple on pizza kinda girl! So take your pick, and eat it all, as they are lush!

Now, not everyone's singin' to the high heavens 'bout The Island. Some folks reckon it's just what you'd expect from a tourist spot, likenin' it to Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. The crowds can be thicker'n flies at a barbecue, so if you're the shy type, you might want to steer clear.

But here's where things get stickier than molasses in July. One family had a downright frightenin' experience on a ride where the attendants missed checkin' the seat buckles. That's enough to make your hair stand on end, ain't it? Safety's gotta come first, y'all.

1/2-Star Reviews: "A Few Sour Grapes in the Bunch

And right nearby, a Christmas shop! And I LOVE Christmas, so it was everything to me!

Now, bless their hearts, some folks just didn't take to The Island one bit. Complaints 'bout smokin' areas not bein' enforced and crowds thicker'n grandma's gravy left some visitors with a bad taste in their mouths.

And don't even get 'em started on the parkin' and cellular availability. One feller wrote, "Give us your money while we charge you 3 to 4 times a decent price BUT DON’T expect anything in return." Now, that's a holler and a half, ain't it?

YUM!
