Little acorns. Get a squirrel's eye view of the park as you whirl around in charming hand-carved acorns. It's a holler and a half, but remember, it's subject to closures during inclement weather.

Now, darlin', remember that height restrictions apply on some rides, and the park's opening times can vary depending on the time of year. But don't you worry, there's plenty more to see and do at Dollywood, which we'll explore more in this article. For now, these are my top picks for child-friendly rides that even the most chill folks (and bag holders like my boyfriend Calum) will enjoy. A Taste of the South: Dollywood's Delightful Dishes

Well, honey, if there's one thing we Southerners know how to do right, it's food. And Dollywood? Well, it's like a grand Southern feast that keeps on givin'. Now, there's a heap of options to choose from, but let me share with y'all some of my personal favorites.

Aunt Granny's Restaurant

So I didn’t take a picture of the restaurant, but I did take a picture of this, and I absolutely love the old blue buildings!

Go get some good old food from a great place! Nestled in Rivertown Junction, this place is like comin' home to grandma's kitchen. With a buffet spread that'll make your mouth water, Aunt Granny's is a must-visit for some good ol' Southern comfort food.

Cinnamon Bread at The Grist Mill

Now I don’t know if you guys have ever had this before, but as a Brit, I did not! And can I say, thank you America!

Tastiest food you’ll ever eat. Over in Craftsman's Valley, you'll find the aroma of fresh-baked cinnamon bread waftin' through the air. This sweet treat is a Dollywood staple, and trust me, it's worth every calorie.

Now it's like, some really nice salad but can also be cooked? It’s something new and different and I loved it! Image from Dollywood site

Good meat and eats! Another gem in Craftsman's Valley, Miss Lillian's Smokehouse offers a buffet of Southern favorites. From fried chicken to collard greens, it's like a Sunday dinner at mama's house.

Now, sugar, these are just a few of the many delightful dishes you'll find at Dollywood. And remember, whether you're a foodie lookin' for gourmet eats or just hankerin' for a snack between rides, Dollywood's got you covered. So, come on down and let's dig in!

Now I bought this, it's called a Funnel Cake, it's sugary, battery, and absolutely DIVINE!
I can’t remember what stand I got this from. I am sorry, but it's a MASSIVE cookie, with ice cream filling, YUM!

Dollywood Delights: More Than Just Rides and Shows

Please ignore my sweat, I'm English and genuinely cannot take anything over 5 degrees.

Now darlin', we've talked about the thrillin' rides, the toe-tappin' entertainment, and the mouthwaterin' food at Dollywood. But there's so much more to this Southern gem than just that. Let's take a gander at some of the other wonderful things you can enjoy at Dollywood.

First off, for those of y'all with furry friends, Dollywood's got you covered with Doggywood

Dogs deserve a break too! It's a safe and comfy spot for your four-legged pals while you're enjoyin' the park. Beats the kennel any day, if you ask me!

Drop those doggies off and enjoy the vibe for the day, or three, and they look after your best friends, in good old country style!

And if you're lookin' to extend your Dollywood experience, why not Book a stay

right on the property? You'll be in the heart of all the action, and trust me, there's nothin' quite like wakin' up to the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

Now, if you're plannin' to spend a good bit of time at the park, I highly recommend gettin' yourself a Cut the queues with a time saver pass. It'll help you skip those long lines and get to the fun faster. Prices start at $44 per person, and it's worth every penny.

The mystery mine from a different angle, taking you way up to the skies and beyond, go for it!

And for all you Dolly fans out there (and let's be honest, who isn't?), be sure to check out the Dolly Parton's Chasing Rainbows Museum. Immerse yourself in Dollys history and please take your time and fall in love! Also, Dolly's Closet. Now, the clothes weren’t for me, but now I'm older, I need a nighty or SEVEN! for some fabulous finds.

As a big fan of history, any history is worth a stop, and any Dolly history must be approved
For many of the shows and entertainment, you go here, and love the shows!

As for tickets, you've got options.

A one day pass is $89, but for just $20 more, you can get a 2 day passes for $109. And if you're really lookin' to soak up all Dollywood has to offer, a 3 day pass 3 day pass! is just $119. You can even add water park access for an extra $10!

As we bid goodbye, I brought one thing, a cowboy hat, ready for, that's right, Dixie Stampede, and when I let you know, I was READY!

So there you have it, folks. Dollywood is more than just a theme park - it's a true Southern experience. Whether you're a thrill-seeker, a foodie, a Dolly fan, or just lookin' for some good ol' fashioned fun, Dollywood's got somethin' for everyone. Can't wait to see y'all there!

And for all of you wondering, here is the Park Map!

Dollywood: A Rollercoaster of Reviews

Sun, memories and some great water features, yes to DollyWood!

Well, sugar, as we wrap up our journey through Dollywood, let's take a moment to hear from some folks who've experienced the park firsthand. Now, as with any place, opinions vary, but one thing's for sure - Dollywood leaves an impression.

Many folks, like this one family, can't get enough of Dollywood. They make the trip at least twice a year, with Christmas being their favorite time. They love the homey feel, the personal touches, and the variety of activities. From the train ride and the shows to the artisans and the food, they've got their Dollywood routine down pat. They appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the value of the Gold Pass for discounts. For them, Dollywood is a cherished part of their family vacations.

But not everyone's experience is as rosy. One couple, visiting for the first time, found the ticket prices a bit steep and the roller coasters a tad short. They also noticed that food lines can get long later in the day. They did, however, appreciate the smoothness of the rides and the festival food pass. For them, Dollywood was worth a visit, but they're not in a hurry to return.

My sister and I are ready for day two!

And then there are those who had a less than stellar experience. One family was disappointed with the cost of parking, the closure of rides, and a less-than-pleasant train ride. They felt they didn't get their money's worth from their three-day pass and were frustrated with the park's policies.

As for my own experience, well, I loved it. Sure, it can be a bit pricey, and three days might be a bit much for some. But the sheer size of the park, the constant stream of country and Dolly Parton tunes, and the emphasis on family time just warmed my heart. My advice? Go early in the day or early in the season when the park first opens. That's when Dollywood truly shines.

So there you have it, folks. Dollywood, like any place, has its highs and lows. But one thing's for sure - whether you're a die-hard Dolly fan or just looking for a fun family outing, Dollywood is a place you won't soon forget.

All aboard the Thunderhead

Dollywood: A Dolly Good Time, Y'all!

The theme park itself is dotted with pieces of history that I not only recommend but demand you must see!

Well, darlin', as we say our goodbyes to Dollywood, let's take a moment to remember all the fun we've had. From the thrilling rides to the toe-tappin' shows, Dollywood has something for everyone. We've explored the park's delicious food offerings, from Aunt Granny's Restaurant to the Grist Mill's famous cinnamon bread. We've talked about the TimeSaver Passes that'll get you on those rides faster, and we've even touched on the unique place for your furry friends, Doggywood.

We've also heard from folks who've visited the park, with reviews as varied as the Smoky Mountains themselves. Some folks can't get enough of Dollywood, while others feel it's a once-and-done experience. But no matter the opinion, Dollywood leaves a mark on everyone who visits.

Just a bit of scenery, and it's fantastic!

As for me, I'm a fan. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, and yes, it can be overwhelming. But the size of the park, the music, and the emphasis on family time make it a place I'll always hold dear. And remember, planning and researching ahead of time can make your visit even more enjoyable.

But now, it's time to say goodbye to Dollywood and hello to our next adventure - the Dixie Stampede! Pigeon Forge, settled in the 1780s and also known as Dolly's city, is home to some of my favorite theme parks. And trust me, Florida, you've got some competition!

My view every morning, with the smokey mountains!

So, until next time, remember these wise words from Dolly herself: "If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one." Farewell, Dollywood. You've been a hoot and a half!

Stay tuned, y'all, for our next adventure in Pigeon Forge!

That's all for this post! If you've visited Dollywood and discovered any hidden treasures or have tips to share, I'd be thrilled to hear about them. If you're in the process of planning a trip and have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Assisting fellow travellers is always a pleasure, and I make it a point to respond to every email I receive (sara@sarajourneys.com). Until we meet again, journey safely!
