Our Unforgettable Stay at the Hôtel Splendid Étoile

By Sara Mckay

The Splendid Etoile, a gem nestled in the heart of Paris, was more than just a hotel for Calum and I. It was an enchanting retreat, where the effervescent charm of the city intertwined with the tranquil luxury of our stay. Offering an awe-inspiring view of the Arc de Triomphe, the hotel seemed to hold the heart of Paris in its window frame.

The dedicated staff treated us like royalty, their attention to detail and warm hospitality adding an extra layer of decadence to our stay. We were situated amidst everything the city has to offer, just a romantic stroll away from the chic boutiques, gastronomical delights, and the rhythm of Parisian life. And let's not forget about our room - a love nest draped in elegance and comfort, filled with thoughtful amenities, whispering stories of passion and the art of Parisian living. Would we stay again? Well, read on to discover our Parisian love affair with the Splendid Etoile.

Embracing Parisian Charm: The Splendid Etoile's Delights and Considerations for the Discerning Traveler

Pros

Prime Location: The hotel's location is nothing short of strategic. Situated right in the heart of Paris, guests are enveloped by the rhythm and charm of the city the moment they step out. The convenience of having tourist attractions like the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées, and many notable museums and shops within a short distance cannot be overstated. It saves on travel time and provides a true, immersive Parisian experience.

Unrivaled Views: Few hotels can boast the iconic view of the Arc de Triomphe that the Splendid Etoile offers. This isn't just about aesthetics—it's about the magical experience of gazing at a world-renowned monument from your window, especially during sunrise or sunset. It's an element that can turn a beautiful trip into an unforgettable one.

Dedicated Staff: The staff members' reputation for exceptional service sets the hotel apart. They are often described as attentive, helpful, and genuinely invested in enhancing guests' experiences. Whether it's providing insider tips on exploring Paris, promptly addressing any issues, or simply sharing a friendly chat, they add a personal touch that enhances the overall stay.

Comfort and Elegance: The hotel's rooms offer more than just a place to sleep. They are carefully designed and furnished, combining elegance and comfort to provide a restful retreat after a day in the city. The rooms' amenities likely cater to both leisure and business travelers, while the tasteful decor echoes Paris's romantic charm.

Comfiest. Bed. Ever.

Cons

Cost: Being a luxury hotel in one of the world's most visited cities comes with a hefty price tag. Although the service and amenities are top-notch, the cost per night may not fit everyone's budget.

City Noise: Its central location, while advantageous for exploring, might also mean exposure to city noise. Guests seeking absolute tranquility might find the bustle of the city, particularly during the day, a bit distracting.

Loved being close, BUT, look at the amount of people, it was loud, but hey, if you can sleep through it, you’re set.

Availability: The Splendid Etoile's popularity, combined with its prime location and limited number of rooms, may make securing a reservation challenging, especially during Paris's high tourist season.

Limited Additional Amenities: While it provides all the essentials expected of a luxury hotel, some guests might miss amenities like a fitness center, spa, or a pool—features that are often found in large, luxury hotels. However, this is likely a trade-off for the intimate, personalized experience the hotel offers.

Strolling Through the City of Light: Discover Paris on Foot from Hotel Splendid Etoile

Anchored in the heart of Paris, Hotel Splendid Etoile proves itself as more than just a luxurious retreat. Its exceptional location places guests at the epicenter of Parisian charm and grandeur, making it the perfect base for exploration on foot.

Just a gorgeous view from the Hotel, with plenty of eateries and attractions, the massive and vibrant city of Paris, never disappoints.

Picture this: stepping out from the hotel, a mere saunter away is the triumphant Arc de Triomphe, an embodiment of the city's rich history. Take a leisurely 15-minute stroll down the tree-lined Champs-Élysées and find yourself at the opulent Grand Palais.

The Champs-Élysées is even prettier than before during Christmas!

A little further on, you'll come across the iconic Eiffel Tower, just about a half an hour walk away. Fancy a visit to the art-filled Louvre or the Gothic masterpiece of Notre-Dame? They're a brisk 45-minute walk or a short ride on the metro. And let's not forget, you're nestled among an array of boutiques, cafes, and bistros that capture the true essence of Paris. So, lace-up your comfortable shoes, because the Splendid Etoile has the entire city at its doorstep!

Definitely worth bringing the boots, as it was about 30-45 minutes of walking, but omgggg look!

The Grand Finale: A Toast to Our Unforgettable Romance at the Splendid Etoile, Paris

Left: And if you don’t mind spending a BIT of money, you get a view from one of the greatest monuments in modern history, google Right: Boots, hair up, and dress kinda girl. It was mid feb this year we went, and it was FREEZING, but the beautiful carpet and old Parisian paintings on the wall made the difference!

As our whirlwind love affair with the Splendid Etoile comes to an end, Calum and I are left with a rich tapestry of memories woven with Parisian charm. From our morning strolls through the tree-lined streets, breathing in the vibrant rhythm of Paris before the world woke up, to our cozy evenings cocooned in the comfort of our plush bed—every moment was nothing short of magic. Those bath soaps, oh la la! Trust me, they were more than just an afterthought (and may have found their way into my suitcase, who's to say?).

Now, let's talk breakfast - a delectable spread that got our mornings off to a delightful start. It was just what we needed before setting off to explore the myriad attractions that were literally at our doorstep. The Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, and more—all a leisurely stroll away from our hotel.

But was it worth nearly 300 euros a night? That's a bit of a mixed bag, I must say. Sure, it was a hefty price tag, and there probably are other places just as close, but cheaper. Plus, for the light sleepers out there, the city noise might be a deal-breaker. But guess what? I didn't foot the bill (lucky me!), and when you weigh it all in— the attentive staff, the divine bed, the sumptuous breakfast, the unbeatable location, and oh, that view—it somehow all makes sense.

So, as we bid adieu to the Splendid Etoile, we've got our sights set on our next adventure. Bring on the Eiffel Tower! We can't wait to share more of our Parisian escapade with you all. Stay tuned, mes amis!

And finally, not a drinker, but yes to authentic French Wine!
